CAT | Marital Bliss

CHICAGO, Illinois-

Some people do, some people don’t……kiss on the first date that is. In this day and age of open sexuality and the “whatever goes” sexual mentality, no one really cares anymore if a girl (or guy) kisses their date on the first date. Back in the day (when our grandparents were of the dating age) kissing on the first date was a lot less popular, but not totally unheard of.

You’re probably thinking, “So they didn’t kiss on their first date, who cares?” Yes, this post is about a couple who didn’t kiss on the first date, but they didn’t kiss on their second nor third dates either. In fact, Melody LaLuz and Claudaniel Fabien, both of Chicago, worked in the city’s public schools and taught abstinence. To most abstinence means refraining from sexual activity. In the case of Melody and Claudaniel abstinence meant to them that before marriage they would never be alone in a house together, nor would they ever kiss. Yes, that’s correct, not until their two minute smooch at the alter did the two love birds ever kiss, not even once.

Those ideals are admirable but not for everyone. But I do give the couple kudos for setting the example for the kids who look up to them. I’m sure it wasn’t easy.

The moral of the story: Always do your best to practice what you preach.

Triple Talaq

WEST BENGAL, India-

This strange story really exhibits how different cultures can be across this planet.

Imagine a woman is lying in bed and hears her husband mumbling in his sleep. Most of his mutters are inaudible gibberish, but she is able to make out one simple, but powerful statement, “Talaq, Talaq, Talaq.” And as she lay there stunned, she realizes those three words have forever changed her life.

In Muslim, ‘talaq’ means divorce. And when said three times in succession by a husband it means, ‘I divorce you, I divorce you, I divorce you’ and therefore by Muslim law, pronounces a married couple immediately divorced. This distraught couple went to their village elders seeking advise, and despite both proclaiming they wanted to remain together, were told they were officially divorced. Clerics told them they would have to remarry.

My questions is this: Since they were in bed I assume they were alone, so therefore she would have been the only one who heard him say those three dreaded words. Why didn’t she just keep her mouth shut and no one would have known any different? The only thing I can think is she believed God knew, so in his eyes they were divorced.

The moral of the story: When you are a Muslim man, try not to dream about divorcing your wife cause it may just happen.

I Do, I Don’t

BERLIN, Germany-

You wait your whole life for the big day. They day you can walk down the isle and say “I do” to the love of your life. The person you have been courting and waiting to be with your whole life, “Till death do us part,” you proclaim. You are so happy.

Well, that’s the plan anyway. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on who you are, a Polish couple living in Germany didn’t quite make it to that life time commitment. A 50 year old man and 34 year old woman married, then decided they hated each other on the same day. He proclaimed, “He never wanted to see her again and wanted an immediate annulment, and she said the same thing.”

There is no word as to whether they got the annulment or a divorce, heck in this day and age maybe they even reconciled their differences and stayed together.

The moral of the story: You better be damn sure that is the person you want to spend the rest of your life with before you walk down the isle.

Pull Over

Nevada-

Imagine a nice young lady driving along, minding her own business. Her first problem was she had had a little too much to drink. Her second problem was she was an off-duty sheriff’s deputy. Her third problem was she was about to be pulled over by a fellow deputy…..her husband. She was arrested for driving under the influence and put on paid administrative leave. Oh, to be a fly on the wall in that house once she was released from jail.

The moral of the story: It is extremely bad for your sex life to give your own wife a DUI.

Jordan -

This is for all you hopeless romantics out there. Like so many other millions of people worldwide a Jordanian couple, Adnan and Jamila met on the internet and fell madly in love. Using the amazing internet as a vehicle of love, their relationship sizzled as the two young lovers shared dreams, goals, hobbies, values, and made wedding plans for the future. What better love could there possibly be? They had each found their soulmate.

There was only one small problem…..both of the lovers were already married, Adnan to Sanaa and Jamila to Bakr. They were each in a seven month break from their respective spouses, giving them both the time to find their perfect love on the internet, each other. Determined to be together Adnan and Jamila plotted escapes from each of their unhappy marriages, knowing they would be together forever.

So far so good? Well sure, but you know there’s a catch. And the catch occurred on the day they could no longer take it and had to meet in person. They agreed to meet at a bus depot and further plan their wedding. But there would be no wedding necessary, not for these two. They were already married, Adnan was Bakr and Jamila was Sanaa. So much for living happily ever after.

The moral of the story: When you meet someone on the internet and decide you are in love, it’s a wise idea to ask for a picture before you plan the wedding.

I’ll Take Half

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia -

All too often marriages end in divorce, with assets being split down the middle. And that is exactly what happened with this Cambodian couple. This story is nothing less than bizarre. After 18 years of marriage, 42 year-old husband Moeun Sarim, and 35 year-old wife Vat Navy decided it was time to split once and for all. He told her he wanted a divorce and she obliged him. Moeun Sarim had become very jealous of his wife’s relationship with a village policeman. Although, Vat denied any extramarital affair, her husband still insisted on a divorce despite village official’s attempts to mend their differences.

This is were it gets really strange. In the details of the divorce, Moeun Sarim brought his relatives, saws in hand, to the house and began sawing the entire 20-by-24 1/2 foot, wood and tile house, in half. With village officials and police on hand, Moeun Sarim and his family members completely sawed his half of the house apart from hers and proceeded to carry each and every piece of debris to his parents’ house nearby. Now that sounds like one pissed off dude.

The Moral of the story: If your wife has a policeman for a friend, divorce her immediately.
