Freak-Show Harold’s At It Again

OAKLAND, California-

Harold CampingWe’ll ladies and gentlemen, I thought last night’s post about the crazy old man, Harold Camping was going to be the last for a while, but apparently not. But, hopefully this will be the last for a few months. Yes, the lunatic is at it again, and the Camping delusion is getting much much better. Merely two days after his failed Judgment Day/Rapture prediction turned out to be absolutely nothing, Harold held his usual Open Forum talk show this afternoon in an attempt to explain himself. However, instead of fielding questions from callers as he usually does, he instead invited media into his studio so he could take some of their questions, but bombard them with tangent-lased preaching.

I’m thankful Camping didn’t immediately go into hiding. At least he attempted to explain himself. And boy did the madman explain……..the plot once again just got thicker. If he said anything at all, I assumed he would say be made a miscalculation and would amend his Judgment Day/Rapture date, which would have been very tough for him since he had stated hundreds of times that the date was guaranteed. But that’s not even close to what Camping said today……and never in a million years would I have ever predicted what explanation he would come up with in his first open forum following his bombed prediction.

In Camping’s media rant today (that he controlled with the precision, dominance, and endless tangents, that he does with his usual open forum sessions) he stated that when May 21st came and went without all the horrible things happening as he predicted, it was a very difficult and confusing time for him. He was “bewildered and flabbergasted” by Judgment Day not appearing as (he says) the Bible guaranteed. Well, Harold, I have to say, after the new load of crap you came up with today, I’m also more bewildered than ever (and I’m sure I’m not alone). I never thought you could top your initial Judgment Day prediction, but today, you crushed it.

Here’s a summary of Harold’s ‘new’ Judgment Day conclusion:

Harold said he was very upset when the Rapture did not occur on Saturday, but while watching TV he heard something about a longtime friend of his. Harold then focused on a quotation his friend had made years ago after Harold’s first failed Judgment Day prediction in 1994. Harold then also turned to a letter from one of his blinded-folded followers. Between the two sources, wise Harold came to the new and improved conclusion that no one could have survived long from the great earthquake and the Earth’s crust could not have handled the massive global earthquake it would have taken to shake all the dead bodies from their graves. The Earth’s crust would have started sinking into the Earth’s mantle and bla, bla, bla. Then the letter gave Camping new insight as to where he had gone wrong…….It stated that since God is a merciful and loving and compassionate God, he will not let anyone suffer a hell on Earth for five months. So therefore, Camping NOW says there will not be a physical Judgment Day, rather it will now all be compressed into the final destruction of the Earth and universe melting in ‘fervent’ heat on October 21, 2011.

And, as if that’s not enough, there’s more………and here’s where it get’s really good. Camping, in all his infinite wisdom, hypocrisy and egotism, had the nerve to claim that his guaranteed Judgment Day actually DID occur on Saturday as he predicted, but he was mistaken in believing it would be a ‘physical’ Judgment Day, instead it was an ‘Invisible Judgment Day’ that occurred in spiritual form only. YES, you read that correctly, Camping’s new doctrine is that on Saturday, May 21st, 2011 the ‘Invisible’ Judgment Period of five months officially started.

Now, by simply gasping at straws, Camping has successfully extended his 15 minutes of fame to a full 30 minutes. And now we all have to wait another five months, when again nothing will happen, to see Camping backtrack again. My question is whether Camping’s feeble Earthly body can last another five months? God I hope so. I want the walking ego to be around so I can hear what he comes up with next……I’m pretty sure he’ll completely run out of Bull Shit by then.

One final note, please watch the YouTube video below, where presumably sometime on Saturday or Sunday a reporter from International Business Times got Camping to answer the door, where he asked Camping for an interview. This video was filmed prior to Harold receiving the letter mentioned above, or recording the open forum noted above. In the 42 second clip, Camping says one very strange thing that really caught my attention. Watching the video, it is quite obvious that Harold Camping is distraught and bewildered, as he put it. Which further leads me to believe that from the bottom of his heart he honestly believes the crap he preaches, and that he’s not scamming anyone (it’s honest crap from him). At the 18-22 second mark of the video, the distressed Camping (as he’s closing the door) states, “This is a big deal….big deal, and I’ve got to live with—–think it out.” Camping initially says he has to ‘live’ with it, but quickly retracts it and corrects it to, ‘think’ it out. The term ‘live’ with it leads me to believe that at the time he was admitting he was wrong, but by retracting it, he wasn’t ready to admit he was wrong.

To be continued on October 21, 2011………….

The moral of the story: Sorry guys, Crazy Old Harold isn’t going away for at least five more months.

It doesn’t mean that at all, that’s just mis-speaking.  “I’ve got to live with it” is an expression that comes out without thinking about it, much of speech is starting with automatic familiar expressions like that in the general direction of the subject and then amending them with the details of our thoughts, and mis-speaking happens when the amendment of the expression comes after it’s actually been spoken, rather than before.  Sometimes your mouth gets ahead of your mind.  Come on now, your article is good and valid, but jumping on that is like a lawyer’s opportunism in a trial trying to exploit someone mis-speaking, rather than honest journalism.  All of us have mis-spoken a million times, saying an expression that comes out before we’ve amended it with our actual thoughts or beliefs.  The guy is wrong, but he was tired and distraught (look at him), as well as surprised, and just mis-spoke.  Don’t mis-represent the mis-representer.  (And from long familiarity with Camping, I do believe that he is partly a scam artist.  Long listening to his teachings, I can sense he knows where the truth is but holds his line slightly off it, wanting his “own ground”; notice he was proud of the fact he was teaching something that the churches have never taught?  He wants to stake out his own territory.)

Very valid points, thank you for the input. I’m still feeling that at that point, when the video clip was filmed, Camping was feeling very low and might have felt (or contemplated) he was wrong entirely. He was trying to figure out how he could justify it to his followers. Then, out of nowhere a letter mystical letter came to him from a devout follower that he was able to twist, which gave him his out. Once October 21, 2011 comes and goes, again without incident, I’m thinking for the most part, Camping will finally be done as a “Biblical Teacher”. By then all his credibility with the vast majority of his flock will be gone (except for the really naive ones).
